the Appropriate Intervention Strategy

Please read the following chapter, Designing and Managing Programs: An Effectiveness-Based Approach.

Chapter 6: “Selecting the Appropriate Intervention Strategy”

Chapter 6 will introduce you to the process of selecting appropriate intervention strategy. In this chapter, you will explore how programs are formulated, hypothesizing, and the strategy for choosing an appropriate level of intervention. You will also explore the idea of consequences as well as the incorporation of problem analysis into program hypothesis.

At least 350 words and should reflect the fact that you have completed the Reading and activities. Use your words wisely so that the posting has substance and includes examples and explanations. Best practice is to include citations and a reference list.

Selecting the Appropriate Intervention Strategy

Describe why the articulation of a hypothesis is essential in the development of an effective program.

Examine how a hypothesis is different from a hunch. Describe the differences.

Describe what the statements, “hypothesis is a series of ends/means statement” and “program evaluation begins with the development of a hypothesis” mean.

Describe how you actually develop both the lower and higher-level statements in the hypothesis.

How do we get people to not abdicate their own critical thinking process

This is a response from Question 1. This is a thoughtfully written post. As a woman who was sick 24/7 for nine months while pregnant twice, I honestly cannot imagine pregnant women drinking caffeine, alcohol, doing drugs, or pretty much anything else while pregnant. However I know that plenty of women do all those things while pregnant. As far as the FDA making sure that labels say what they should say, well for the most part they do, but people would actually need to read those labels don’t you think? This speaks more to people not paying attention to their own health, and not engaging in critical thinking about self care. So how do we get people to not abdicate their own critical thinking process?

Peer Pressure

To Prepare:

  • As you review this week’s Learning Resources, consider the following questions: When you think of peer pressure, is it primarily a force encouraging negative and antisocial behaviors? Alternatively, can peer pressure lead adolescents to positive/prosocial behaviors?
  • Consider ways that gender, age, and cultural background may impact the nature of peer pressure.

By Day 4

Post your argument explaining the positive and negative nature of peer pressure. Please support your arguments with scholarly sources that point to both types of influence (positive and negative) that peers can have on adolescents and emerging adults. Be sure to address how gender, age, and cultural may impact the nature of peer pressure.

Relief of Akhenaten as a sphinx

Relief of Akhenaten as a sphinx

Your initial research for the Module 8 paper began in Module 6, when you chose an artwork to analyze from one of the following museum websites:

Your chosen artwork should be one that falls within the periods covered by the course (prehistoric to medieval). The museum’s website is a good first stop for researching the artwork.

The actual assignment is as follows

The analysis should begin with an introduction of the artwork that includes the title, date, medium (material from which it is made), and the museum in which it is located. In the body of the paper, you can break down the analysis into sections.

  • One section should be a description of the subject of the work. This logically ties into the purpose the artwork served, which should also be discussed.
  • The essay should include a section on style analysis for the work. Introducing other similar works to compare may help make your case if you are discussing style conventions for the period. When writing about art, it is important to describe details. This helps to guide the reader’s eye, and is essential for reinforcing your general observations.

Think in terms of three to five pages of text, plus a “Works Cited” page. This paper will require research, beyond the museum website, to get a full sense of the piece and its historical context. Include at least five scholarly sources. Use the APA style to set up your paper and cite your research. Please include an illustration of your work in your paper.

The Excelsior College Library can be a huge help. Below is its link to research materials related specifically to art:

If you are new to research or need help with APA formatting, the library also offers this:

Compose your work in a .doc or .docx file type using a word processor (such as Microsoft Word, etc.) and save it frequently to your computer. For those assignments that are not written essays and require uploading images or PowerPoint slides, please follow uploading guidelines provided by your instructor.

Check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors. When you are ready to submit your work, click “Upload Submission.” Enter the submission title and then click on “Select a file to upload.” Browse your computer, and select your file. Click “Open” and verify the correct file name has appeared next to Submission File. Click on “Continue.” Confirm submission is correct and then click on “Accept Submission & Save.”

week4 journal

Compare the two Hitchcock films you watched this week. What makes both of them distinctly Hitchcock creations? How do they differ? Of course the plots are different, but consider character types, the tone and mood of each film, and maybe even how each represents a different phase in Hitchcock’s career. As always, choose at least two scenes (one from each film—or more if you wish) to use as supporting examples for your argument. Screen shot each of them. Be specific in your analysis, and do not summarize.

Psycho (1:49:00)

""

The quintessential Hitchcock suspense film that inspired a generation of filmmakers and defined the genre. An eerie motel and a woman on the run from the police. The rest is movie history.

Vertigo (2:08:00)

""

A love story with many twists and turns. Enough to make anyone dizzy! It contains some of Hitchcock’s best and most daring cinematography (and that’s saying a lot), and it is every bit the psychological thriller that Psycho is.

https://www.shmoop.com/vertigo/summary.html

Notorious (2:02:00)

""

First of all, it stars Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant. Second, it’s WWII. Her father has colluded with the Nazis, and she is recruited by the CIA to spy on his former colleagues. Lots of intrigue, a fine script, superb acting, tense situations, and incredible direction.

PS1010 Columbia Southern Bureaucracy American Government Reflection Paper

Unit VII Reflection Paper

For the following assignment, you are asked to reflect on the concepts you have learned in this unit. At the beginning of the

unit, you learned about the bureaucracy, its structure, and how it works or does not work. Following that, you learned about

the judiciary, its structure, and how it works. In addition, you learned about the power that the judiciary can wield within the

federal bureaucracy. After reviewing these concepts, compose a paper which discusses the following topics:

In one of your required readings, you read that some people feel that the bureaucracy is more than just a system

executing the wishes of government officials. According to some people, the bureaucracy is the real government. Do you

agree with this statement? Why, or why not?

Outline the structure, functions, and nature of the federal bureaucracy and the judicial system.

Discuss how the judiciary can serve to curb some of the power of the bureaucracy as well as other branches of the

government.

Explain the concept of the iron triangle and offer an example of how it can influence policymaking.

Identify how the knowledge you gained in this unit has affected the way you view the inner workings of government.

Your paper must be at least three pages, double-spaced, and in 12-point Times New Roman font.
