Within the world of
shipping and transportation we find an industry that tends to catch one’s
eye. This we call FEDEX. The following paragraphs will provide a brief
explanation of how operations have been managed within this company.
We will begin our study
on Operations Management with the fast growing Air Delivery and Freight Service
Industry of FEDEX. Its main line of
business is shipping and forwarding services yet nevertheless has also extended
its fingers into customs, logistics, distribution and transportation, trade
advisory, and advance ecommerce.
Management operates on a
service built foundation. FEDEX wishes
to provide supreme customer satisfaction through not only domestic but
worldwide support.
The nature of the
operation is to provide flexible and reliable solutions at a name people can
trust. Offices have been established in
several parts of the worlds.
The global strategy of this operation can be
described as network based. There have
been alliances built to provide a comprehensive ocean and air international
logistics industry.
