A report on marriage
Marriage:
1. Part One (two pages) will be informing the reader about your topic. This includes the history of marriage in your family and of your current marriage.
- Part Two (two pages) will be relating how social structures and institutions have affected your topic. Make connections between your topic and the impact of institutions. (Social institutions are education, the media, the family, government, etc…) Also include the type of stereotypes that your personal marriage and culture has experienced in the past as well as in present day society.
- Part Three (two pages) will be relating sociology and what you have learned from this class in terms of relating to your marriage in present day. Here you will write about how society has changed their views on marriage to the present day. Please be able to reference back to your textbook or news reflections in this section of your paper.
- Works Cited Page (one page) (MLA preferred)
In total your paper will consist of 7 pages. Your 7th page will consist of your work cited page.
Don’t panic!!! This will be easier than it looks but will require some effort and some research. Your biggest tool will be your textbooks while will be supported by outside research. Please no use of Wikipedia in your paper. Wikipedia is not an academic source and points will be deducted if used! If you do not know whether an article is academic or not, you can ask me or your librarian.
The idea behind this paper is to make Sociology applicable to your life!
Please make sure your paper is double-spaced and written in 12 pt font. Additionally, please pay attention to grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, as I do grade down for those errors. (I also teach English!)
