In 1915 the first great feature length film “Birth of a Nation” was released in the United States. Using the showing of the film as a recruitment tool, the Ku Klux Klan revived itself to become more powerful in the 1920’s than it had ever been, expanding chapters to every state in the union. The Great Depression which began with the Crash of Wall Street in October 1929 and World War II will actually play significant roles in beginning to improve conditions both political and economic for African Americans and women in America.
