Find THREE (3) articles from three (3) external sources (not from course readings) that relate to compensation practice and strategy. Your articles should include at least one scholarly source and one from a professional source such as SHRM magazine or the Harvard Business Review, and might include information related to any of the following topics:

· compensation philosophy

· indirect compensation (i.e. benefits, retirement plans, paid time off, health care, life and disability insurance, etc.),

· direct compensation (i.e. wages and salaries, merit pay, variable pay plans, incentive plans, etc.)

· intrinsic compensation

· internal equity (i.e. job evaluation plans, executive pay, etc.)

· job evaluation process

· external equity (i.e. market related pay considerations)

· performance management processes (i.e. merit pay, performance appraisal process, rewards systems, etc.)

You MUST have:

· one article from a scholarly source (e.g. a peer-reviewed academic journal)

· one article from a professional source (e.g. a practitioner-oriented publication)

· one article from a general media source

 Cite the source in APA formatting. 

For your submission you must complete the following tasks. Part A of your final submission should answer the 3 questions below for each article and look like this:

1) In a paragraph, summarize the content of the article.

2) In a few sentences, describe the audience for whom the article as written and how you know that.

3) In a few sentences or a short paragraph, explain what you believe to be the author’s goal or motivation behind publishing the article.

After you have answered the three questions for EACH of the 3 articles in Part A, answer the question in part B below.

Part B:

Answer the following question:  How can and should an organization’s values and mission influence compensation strategy and the use of compensation tools? Use the articles you have read to inform your response. Use of specific examples will assist you with clarity and quality in your answer.
